16日は「敬老の日」でしたが、みなさんの周りでは親御さんやおじいちゃん・おばぁちゃんに何かやってさしあげましたか？

敬老の日
英語では「敬老の日」にこのような訳を与えています。
ポイントは、the＋形容詞 で「ある属性を持った人々」を表す用法ですね。
おなじみなのが
the rich 金持ち・富裕層
the poor 貧乏人・貧困層
the young 若者
the elderly 高齢者
などなど。
ちなみに、the+形容詞はとてもオトナの英語のように思います。
より易しくは、～people とすればよいでしょう。
